The island of Cuba, with its 42,827 square miles (110,922 square kilometres), is the largest island in the Antilles. Its privileged position at the very entrance of the Gulf of Mexico, midway across the line between South and North America, side by side with the Bahamas Channel and bathed by the Caribbean Sea from all directions, made the Island have a strategic location for the Spanish fleets in the region centuries ago. As a consequence of this, the Cuban insular shelf became a graveyard for several galleons and other ships caught by hard meteorological conditions in their way to Europe.

This wrecks, plus the natural conditions that always existed in the archipelago including coral reef barriers, caverns systems and submarine walls, have allowed the Island to show an exceptional marine flora and fauna. Cuban waters have excellent diving conditions all year round, visibility reaches 100 feet ( 300 metres ), temperatures range from 75.2º and 83.3º F. (24º and 28.5º C.), marine currents are not strong and there is not pollution at all. Moreover, in opposition to the rest of the Caribbean Diving spots, Cuban dive sites are not crowded since the diving operations are more limited and controlled.

Both snorkelling and Scuba Diving have in Cuba an unequal paradise, vertical walls with colourful corals and marine vegetation, caves, tunnels, coralline gardens and places where long size fishes are easily fed by your hands are among the amazing attractions you will find in the Cuban seas.
