We can prepare custom tour packages for a couple, or a group of thirty, and anything in between. We have lodging available in a wide variety of Bed & Breakfasts in Cuba, and we also have access to every hotel on the island. We offer tour packages that include a car and driver, whether it is a modern car or van, or a classic American car with air conditioning.

Description

Day 1 “Welcome to Havana”

  • Depart U.S. from Miami, Ft. Lauderdale or Tampa International Airport to Jose Marti International Airport in Havana, Cuba.
  • Meet & greet with a professional guide with a deep knowledge and years of experience working with us and American tourism at Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport.
  • Guide will accompany you for duration of stay.
  • Accommodation in B&B in Havana, for 4 nights with breakfast included, through which you will have the chance to learn about Cubans´ daily routine
  • Welcome lunch at private restaurant. (If you are not in Havana at lunch time, then there will be an included welcome dinner.)
  • Driving City Tour of Havana, including a drive along the famous Havana “Malecon” seawall, Vedado neighborhood, 5th Avenue in the suburb of Miramar, and stops at the Plaza of the Revolution, Almendares Park, Fusterlandia in the suburbs of Havana, and La Lavanderia, the studio and workshop of Cuban painter and sculptor Rafael Perez Alonso. You will have the opportunity to explore this most unique workplace in the Havana suburb of Miramar, and meet the artist. (2 hours).

Day 2: "Old Havana & Art"

  • Breakfast at B&B.
  • Old Havana Encounter, our walking tour through Old Havana, La Habana Vieja, and its five main plazas, Plaza Vieja, Plaza de Armas, Plaza de la Catedral, Plaza de San Francisco, and Plaza del Cristo, with stops at the residence of the colonial era Captain General of the island, the Havana Cathedral, Obispo Street, and the Cuba’s capitol building. You will stop at the L’Antigua Habana book store, right across the street from Sloppy Joe’s, where you just may find a first edition of “The Old Man and the Sea,” or just a simple postcard. Old Havana gives you a taste of the island and will make you feel as if you had travelled back in time. Old Havana has some of the oldest buildings and streets in the Americas, with buildings and structures dating to the 16th These ancient buildings still house a significant number of Havana’s inhabitants. Old Havana features the first church built on the island, a street paved with wooden bricks, palatial residences, the hotel where Ernest Hemingway began writing “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” the beautiful Bacardi building, and the Cuba’s former presidential palace. Some of the notable buildings you will see during this tour include the house built by Ponce de Leon’s grandson, a section of Havana’s original colonial era sewer system, and the beautiful Palacio Viena Hotel, which like many structures in Old Havana has been undergoing a never-ending renovation. Our tour of Old Havana includes stops at Ernest Hemingway’s favorite bars, El Floridita and La Bodeguita del Medio. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1982, Old Havana is the largest, oldest, and most authentic colonial area in the western hemisphere. This event is directed by your professional, English speaking guide. (4 hours).

  • 2:00 pm Visit to Old Havana’s Parque Central, and participate in a heated discussion with Cuban baseball fans at La Esquina Caliente, where authorized fans have open discussions about everything baseball.
  • 3:00 pm Museo de Bellas Artes Tour, this is a tour of both the national and international branches of the Cuban National Arts Museums, which are housed in two separate buildings. One building, which houses international artworks, is in what was before the revolution of 1959 the Centro Asturiano de La Habana, the gathering place for the society of Spaniards from the province of Asturias who had emigrated to Cuba. The national branch is housed in a modern looking building, and houses the Coleccion Cubana, while the other museum is known as the Coleccion de Arte Universal. The Coleccion Cubana is housed in a modern looking building across from the Museum of the Revolution, the beautiful building was built before 1959 in a modernistic style, and features works by Victor Manuel Garcia, Wilfredo Lam, Rene Porto Carrero, Zaida del Rio, and many more. This branch displays works which are rarely seen outside of Cuba, of artists which in many cases are little known outside the island. (4 hours).

  • 9:30 pm Entertainment at the world-famous Tropicana Cabaret, well-known as a “Paradise under the stars” since it was built in a woody outdoors area in 1939. Many national and international stars have made their attractive and beautiful performances. Tropicana`s shows are characterized by the Cuban Folklore, colored and variety of rhythm, the beauty and affability of its dancers and excellence of artist.

Day 3: "Cuba Baseball & Game Day"

  • Breakfast at B&B.
  • 9:30 am History of baseball in Cuba workshop, and tour of baseball facilities in Havana. Workshop is led by Cuban baseball great Vicente Anglada, a retired star from Cuba’s national team, and the winningest manager of Havana’s Industirales. As a player, Mr. Anglada led the Cuban league in stolen bases for four consecutive years in the 1970’s, managed the Cuban national team during the 2007 Baseball World Cup, and was the team’s manager when they won gold at the 2007 Pan American Games. The Industirales won three championship titles with Mr. Anglada as skipper. Knick-named el Rey Azul, he has been a part of Cuban baseball for the past fifty years, and there is no one on the island who has been as involved with baseball at all levels of the game. There will be a question and answer session with Mr. Anglada, and he will probably join you at the game. (3 hours).
  • Lunch at restaurant of guest’s choice. (NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE).
  • 2:00 pm. Baseball game. Attend a game at the Estadio Latino Americano in Havana’s el Cerro neighborhood, or if travelling during the post season, in a neighboring province.
  • Dinner at restaurant of guest’s choice. (NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE).
  • 10:00 pm Live music featuring the Buena Vista Social Club.

Day 4:  “Cuba, Life & Little League”

  • Breakfast at B&B
  • 9:00 am: "Resolviendo workshop", this workshop is our attempt to give our guests a peek into the life of a regular Cuban citizen. You will see an actual tarjeta de abastecimiento, which roughly translates to provisions card. These are the small notebooks that every Cuban citizen is given at birth, and which entitles them to five chicken eggs, a quarter chicken, coffee, cooking oil, and other items every month. The provision card also entitles its’ bearer to purchase select items that are deemed to be necessities at discounted prices. You will visit what is known in Cuba as an agricultural market, agro, and is basically the produce section of a supermarket, where most people buy their fresh produce. You will visit a bread distribution point, where bread is distributed through the provision card at discounted prices. Depending on schedule and other factors you may also visit a grocery store, meat market, and other markets where meats are sold. This workshop will show visitors some of the daily rituals most Cubans deal with, it will be presented by your guide, and sometimes we have invited guests who are experts in certain areas of the food distribution chain in Cuba. The history of the provisions card will also be covered. (4 hours).

  • 2:00 pm: Attend Little League baseball game.

  • 10:30 pm: Live music at La Casa de la Musica Miramar or other venue depending on schedule.

Day 5: “Valley of Vinales”

  • Breakfast at B&B.
  • 8:00 am. Transfer to Pinar del Rio's Valley of Viñales. (475 km-4 hrs)
    The tour of the Valley of Viñales is one of the most unique experiences on the island of Cuba. Visit the fugitive slaves’ cave where you will learn how sugar was fabricated 200 years ago and the sugar-cane juice. The unique rock formations that seem to be growing out of the valley’s soil are known as “mogotes,” known as the Two Sisters which resemble a small, roughly made Ayers Rock, and are only found here, and in southern China.
  • The UNESCO World Heritage site is best seen on horseback, and you will have the choice of either taking a walking tour, a cycling tour, or on horseback. During your day at Viñales you will visit the Jasmines’ watchtower which covers a beautiful, stunning and fabulous view of the mogotes and the Valley of Viñales. There are also many plant species that are found in the valley, and nowhere else on earth. Amongst these are the Corocho Palm, which is considered an ancient species, its origins being in the Jurassic period. There are also a wide variety of birds in the valley, including the “zunzun, tocororo, cartacuba, ruisenor,” and the “tomeguin del Pinar.”
  • Also visit the Indian’s cave, you will tour a working tobacco farm. You will have time to explore the quaint town of Viñales located in the center of the valley, and has developed along traditional lines, as new construction along the main street continues to be built in a similar style to homes from an earlier time. Homes here are characterized by columns on their front porches, and red tile roofs, and enjoy a personalized tour of the valley that is oriented towards your individual groups wishes. The views along the various routes that traverse the valley are spectacular, and everyone enjoys it in their own way.
    Visit the Prehistoric mural which features drawings of life as it has developed over thousands of years in the valley, with representation of both wildlife and Cuba’s native Indian population illustrating the evolution of life in the valley. Trails through the Valley provide opportunities to see a vatiety of birds, including the bee hummingbird. (3 hours).
  • Lunch at a local restaurant included in this tour. The tour usually ends with a stop at the Sierra de los Organos mural which illustrates the evolution of life in the valley.
  • Settle into B&B in Vinales for 1 night with breakfast included.

Day 6: “Soroa, Las Terrazas, and Havana”

  • Breakfast at B&B.
  • 9:00 am. Say goodbye to Vinales, and return to Havana with stops at Soroa and the beautiful national park of Las Terrazas, located inside the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve, the eco-village of Las Terrazas was built as part of a reforestation project in 1968. Footpaths through evergreen and semi- deciduous forest offer excellent opportunities to view around 800 species of plants and well over 100 bird species. (3 hours).
  • Lunch in Las Terrazas. Typical Cuban lunch served, will probably include roast pork, arroz moro, yuca if it’s in season, fried plantains, and drinks.
  • 3:00 pm. Arrive in Havana.
  • Settle into B&B in Havana for 3 nights with breakfast included.
  • Free Time to enjoy on your own.

Day 7: “Havana & Baseball”

  • Breakfast at B&B.
  • This day’s activities are dependent of the Cuban baseball season schedule. However, car/driver and guide will be with you for all activities.
  • Lunch & dinner at restaurant of guest’s choice. (NOT INCLUDED IN TOUR PRICE).
  • Live music, venue to be determined.

Day 8: “Revolution & Dancing”

  • Breakfast at B&B.
  • 9:00 am. Museum of the Cuban Revolution Tour, the Museum of the Revolution is housed in the former Presidential Palace of Cuba. It is in Old Havana across from the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, which exhibits works by Cuban artists. Civilian and military artifacts are on display in the Museum, as are brief written descriptions of the events that led to the overthrow of the Batista regime in 1959. Artifacts from the armed struggle are amongst items on display, and they range from bloody shirts and pistols, to the motor yacht “Granma,” which ferried Fidel Castro and the members of the 26 of July Movement to Cuba from Mexico in 1956. Military vehicles that were used during the fighting in the late 1950’s are on display outside of the Museum, and they range from tank and jeeps, to airplanes and tractors that were turned into armored fighting vehicles. (2 hours).

  • 3:00 pm. Salsa & Rumba Dance Workshop, begins with our best dancers performing an impressive interpretation of Cuba’s two endemic dance styles. You will then learn some of the history of salsa music in Cuba, the basic steps involved in dancing, and its contributions and influences around the world. The history of rumba will cover its African Abakpa, Bantu and Yoruba roots, its roots in Spain’s coros de clave, and the three distinct styles of this characteristically Cuban musical genre, Columbia, Guaguanco, and Yambu. You will then receive individualized salsa dance instructions. Rumba dancing lessons are not included in this workshop, unless specifically requested before-hand, please leave the rumba to the Cubans! (3-4 hours).

Day 9: “Goodbye Cuba”

  • Breakfast at B&B.
  • 9:00 am. Santeria workshop, this workshop covers the basics of the Afro-Cuban religion Santeria, and includes such topics as the syncretism of Catholicism and African religions, and the role and significance of drums in the religion. The religion is a syncretism of African religions and Catholicism, and is currently practiced by a large percentage of the island’s population. This workshop covers the main deities of the religion, their origin myths, the colors and vestments associated with them, and their roles in human life. A visit to the Casa de Africa is included, and there you will see African musical instruments, artifacts, and a room dedicated to the orishas, the Yoruba deities. Guests are usually amazed after attending this workshop that the many multicolored wristbands and necklaces worn by many Cubans are associated with the religion. (3 hours).
  • Lunch at restaurant of guest’s choice. (NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE).
  • Transfer to Jose Marti International Airport for return flight to your country.
