Cuba is a destination in the Caribbean that differs of the other ones for the variety of its tourist attractiveness: Cuba is a major destination of beaches and sun, but it also has significant historical and cultural, ecological and natural landscapes attractiveness, cities and miner-medicinal spas that give at island a great diversity that target a wide sectors of the tourist market and for a wide spectrum of interests and ages among the travelers.

This guide is structured by provinces (go to left panel and select a region or province), also there are a briefly description of any major tourism destination on the country.

As arriving to these places being already in Cuba, that means of transport prepare? They are to the tourists' disposition in the whole island the traditional means of transport:

Air: advisable to move from an end to another of the island or keys like Cayo Largo del Sur (Long Key of the South) that don't have access by road. All the destinations tourist and main cities have airport and air connection with Havana. It is also available the service of air taxi in almost the whole country.

Marine: basically in the transfers to the Isla de Pinos (Island of Pines), there are ferrys service (it includes transfer of cars) and of quick boats, a pleasant trip without doubts.

Bus: it is the way most used in Cuba, several bus lines exist but more advisable is Via Azul (the terminal is on 26 street, in Nuevo Vedado, City of Havana) that connects all the tourist destinations with the capital with exact schedules, acceptable comfort and economic prices. They also exist other companies of trips for bus and minibuses as Veracuba.

Cars: theare are several companies that rent cars to tourists to prices that begin in 40 dollars per day, without including the fuel (the price of fuel is around 1.00 dollar the liter of gasoline and 0.80 dollars the liter of diesel). Rent car companies are: Havanautos, Transautos, Panautos, Micar, Veracuba, Cubacar, Transtur. They generally have agencies in all the tourist destinations, airports and hotels of the country. With the exception of some keys like Cayo Largo del Sur (Long Key of the South), los Jardines de la Reina (Queen's Gardens) and Cayo Levisa all the other places of tourist interest on the island have access by road.

Taxis: a good service of taxis exists in all the destinations tourist and main cities, it has economic prices, the rates begin in 0.50 dollars the km in dependence of the company but in long trips remember deal the price previously with the chauffeur. Theare are also private taxis that possibly can be more economic in exchange for sacrificing the comfort a little, a good option to know Cuba.

Railroad: Although the country has a wide rail net in general the roads and the park they have not been modernized and they don't respond to the European nd Americans (US and Canada) standards, the trains have little comfort and it is frequent the nonfulfilment of the itineraries. With the exception of a special train that have one departure every other day Havana-Santiago de Cuba (51 dollars the ticket), the other ones are only recommended to tourists that possess adventure spirit.

Pinar del Rio

With good access from Havana by National Freeway and with access for paved road to all their places of tourist interest this county has gone in increase in the preference of the tourists attracted by its natural beauty, its bucolic landscape, magnificent marine bottom and to be the meca of the best tobacco in the world. Their main attractiveness are:

Center-north: Valley of Viñales, Cayo Levisa, Cayo Jutías and Cayo Paraiso (Paradaise), for the nature tourism, beautiful beaches and diving, magnificent coral reef.

Center of province: city of Pinar del Rio, with factories of habanos, the area of the municipalities San Juan and Martínez and San Luis, the earth of the best tobacco in the world and where the alive legend of the tobacco culture resides: Alejandro Robaina. Also San Diego de los Baños, a medicinal spa.

Extreme west: Peninsule of Guanahacabibes, national park and reserves of the biosphere, perfect scenario for the ecoturism, there are also 2 marines and an international center of diving located in an area of coral reef classified among the best in the Caribbean.

East of the province: Sierra of the Rosario, reserves of the biosphere, an wonderful area for the nature tourism, where should also be visited the community Las Terrazas and Soroa, very beatiful places.

La Habana

Bounding with the City of Havana this county has good road communications and its places of interest concentrate on the north coast: to West, Baracoa and El Salado beaches, of medium quality but calm and where a good day can pass diving and swiming, both are less than a hour from Havana downtown; to East, Arroyo Bermejo and Jibacoa beaches, small but of good quality and with lodging facilities. Practically the whole Vía Blanca, highway that join City of Havana with Matanzas, is a scenic road and along them there are several camping site facilities in small but beautiful beaches. Mirador of the bridge Bacunayagua in the limit with the county of Matanzas is also a place to make a stop and to enjoy the view.

Havana City

It is the capital of Cuba and without doubts also the main tourist destination of the island. A beautiful city in front of the Strait of Florida that concentrates attractiveness of all type: magnificent beaches in Playas del Este, hotels and restaurants for all preferences and pockets, marine and centers for the practice of nautic sports and of almost all type, architectural and historical values with maximum concentration in Old Havana, declared Patrimony of the Humanity by UNESCO, facilities for conventions, a rich cultural life and great variety of recreational and night facilities that give this city an extra attractiveness together to the proverbial happiness of Cubans. Isle of Youth (formely, Isle of Pines)

Is located at South of provinces Pinar del Rio and Havana and it is the island more big after the island of Cuba. The access is by air or marine but this last one adds an extra charm to a visit to the Island of Pines across the not very deep, transparent and full with aquatic life waters of the Gulf of Batabanó.
